Ayurvedic Beauty Tips
As an Ayurvedic practitioner, I wanted to offer you some all natural beauty tips. Ayurveda is a holistic system of wellness that has its origin in ancient India. This system of wellness looks at the body, mind, emotions holistically. In Ayurveda we see beauty as arising out of our wellness… It is when our entire body and emotions are in balance that we become our most radiantly beautiful.
To keep your face looking youthful and beautiful, your figure trim, and to improve your overall health, follow these five magical tips to ageless beauty. I call these “magical,” because I have found that within only a few days, most women notice a new-found healthy glow and freshness in their faces just from following even one of these simple tips.
-
Go to bed and turn your light off by 9:45 P.M. and get up by 6 A.M.
Really, girl, you need your beauty rest. Sleep is one of the ways that we connect with Pure Consciousness. And because Consciousness is light, love and beauty you really want to connect! Interrupted sleep will interrupt the digestion of food, emotion and experience. Your skin needs you digesting well.
-
Take a walk for at least ten minutes outdoors in the fresh air within an hour or two of sunrise.
Ayurvedically the energy of the early morning offers your skin and your whole body what we call ojas, or deep vitality. Think about the morning dew kissing your skin and drenching it with new life!
-
Eat fresh, pure, organic foods with lots of sweet, juicy fruits and vegetables during the day.
YES! What you put IN your body is as crucial as what you put on your skin. I rarely use skin products (don’t tell, ok), but my skin is very balanced because I eat whole, organic foods. No fast foods. No fried foods and absolutely NO sodas.
-
Drink plenty of pure spring water during the day (room temperature or warm, not cold).
Cold water freezes your digestion. Drinking warm water stimulates your digestion and moves out toxins and undigested gunk that can make bags under your eyes, cause weight gain and puffiness.
-
Eat a light evening meal without meat, rich sauces, or cheese by 7 P.M. at the latest.
Eating a light evening meal allows your digestion to rest overnight. This is super important because at night our body is not equipped to process heavy foods. If you eat a large or heavy meal you will produce a great deal of what we call “ama” in Ayurveda. “Ama” is undigested gunk. YUCK! And when we produce a lot of it, it gets clogged in our tissues and causes acne, blemishes, bloating, pain and more.
