Juice Beauty vs Nars Creamy Concealer: Which Concealer Should You Use?
Concealer is, in my not so humble opinion, a cosmetic bag staple. As a professional makeup artist, I see older women like myself either use an excessive amount of the wrong product around their eyes, or buy the incorrect color for their skin tone. Both can enhance the fine lines around our eyes and age you. If you’re like me, you want to look better, not older! In this video, I teach not only how to use concealer, but I review and compare a clean beauty concealer, Juice Beauty, and a well-known brand, Nars Creamy Concealer.
What are the Bad Ingredients?
I’ve been using Nars Creamy Concealer for several years for my on-camera talent and love it. It covers the common blue-purple under eye darkness without setting in fine lines. It also highlights the under eye area with a soft glow that brightens and reflects light. It’s effectiveness is unquestionable, it’s toxicity is not. The Nars brand contains such questionable ingredients like comedogenic components, fungal acne feeding components, silicones and polyethylene glycol (PEG). Consumers are becoming more and more savvy that products that might work well, yet contain toxic ingredients are to be avoided.
Because of this, clean beauty is an up and coming trend in the beauty arena, and I am hot on the heels of products to find my favorites. That being said, I’ve had an easier time finding superb clean skin care, than makeup. The clean beauty makeup lines tend to still lack the smooth texture and glowy finish of their less-pure counterparts. However; because concealer is a staple item, I decided to sample the Juice Beauty Concealer by doing a review and comparison with Nars.
Which Concealer is Better?
The Nars product delivers a wonderful glow to the under eye area, but at times I need to layer it with another concealer to have the coverage I desire. And, as a side note, I would never use the Nars concealer on male talent; it has too much highlight in it to apply on men.
The Juice Beauty concealer is of a heavier consistency and therefore covers better than the Nars, but because it is non-toxic, it lacks the essential ingredients to deliver the glow of the Nars concealer. My assessment is that if you are into clean-beauty, go for the Juice Beauty brand. It’s one of the best up-and-coming clean brands on the market, and a solid product. If you like the glow of highlighter, then you’ll want to delve into Nars Creamy Concealer.
A note on application: keep your concealer to the side of the nose and a little ways down under the eye, but don’t take it all the way across the under-eye area. It’s just too much! You also might try mixing the Juice Beauty Concealer with moisturizer to blend easier. The added effort is worth while if you want to switch to clean beauty products above it’s more toxic counterparts.
Be Beautiful!
